Pitched roof: A pitched roof is the most common type of roof framed by Pitch Perfect. These roofs consist of two or more surfaces that join at a ridge. A roof carpenter will build the pitched roof structure in timber, to allow for a variety of coverings, including slate, clay tiles, concrete tiles, and zinc.

Flat roof: Flat roofs are probably the second most popular roof in the UK. And are especially common in commercial buildings and rear extensions. They have a very shallow slope, and are typically warm deck or cold deck depending on the design. Flat roofs are often covered using materials such as felt, asphalt, GRP or rubber.

Mansard roof: This type of roof has a steep pitch on all sides often at 70 degrees with a flat roof or a shallower pitch above. Mansard roofs are usually found in historic buildings and commonly feature dormers.

Hipped roof: A basic hipped roof will be pitched on all all sides, this will help dealing with strong winds as there are no horizontal flat areas for the wind force to hit. They are mostly found on semi-detached and detached houses and bungalows.

Butterfly roof: This roof has two pitches that slope downwards, creating a V-shape in the middle. Butterfly roofs are sometimes known as London roofs.

The above are just a few examples of the types of roofs, a roof carpenter will frame. The choice of design will depend on the architect and engineer, they will take into consideration several factors, including the weather, building style and clients preference.
